ROSE & CROWN, THORPE
With a brief to enliven the existing interior, Concorde BGW have recently completed the refurbishment of this quintessential, country pub in Egham bringing life, colour and different pockets of ambience to a rather compact, listed building.
Celebrating the historic elements of the building, the oldest room in the building was painted in a rich heritage palette with dark corners featuring wooden beams and traditional furniture that were saturated in fun colours to add warmth. Recently bricked-up fireplaces were removd to reveal beautiful, antique lintels and gas fires were installed as a new central feature. Elsewhere, in the newer side to building, the ceiling was raised in the garden-facing restaurant and filled with hanging curiosities to compliment a scheme of meadow pinks and green and brightly coloured and patterned fabrics.
To bring more light into the interior, the ceiling was removed from the restaurant area to reveal a stunning pitched roof and rafters into which we installed velux windows to flood light into what had previously been a dark dining space.
Externally, Rose & Crown now has a newly landscaped garden with reclaimed timber fixed seating booths made from vintage railway sleepers and, through the installation of three quirky sheds, we have introduced alfresco dining - no matter what the weather! Each shed has its own unique character and colour scheme with upholstered vintage furniture and retro hand-painted wallpapers.
