This prime site sits in the Regency heart of Marylebone and was set up as a Mediterranean pub dining room serving tapas and charcuterie. A huge horseshoe bar dominated the ground floor space and what little room was left was taken up by run of the mill bar seating with a basic outdoor area. The first floor space was a dull and unwelcoming extension of the ground floor and the basic artisan feel was looking dated.
The brief was to take the limited space available and create a refined drinking and dining establishment with private dining room and plush outdoor area. The new owners required something special that would reflect the area’s rich history, grand architecture and affluent clientele.
DESIGN AND BUILD SOLUTION
The architecture of the venue exudes charm and the interior design concept sought to introduce a timeless elegance whilst retaining a thoroughly welcoming pub environment.
The overall style is that of a smart 1940’s gentleman’s club interior that mixes a traditional West London pub aesthetic with a contemporary bar and fine dining restaurant. The design is restrained and stylish with the main task being to select high quality interiors and fittings but maintain a level of unpretentious simplicity, this required many days of careful purchasing.
The Cavendish offers a high-end experience with the new downstairs bar relocated against the beautiful period windows, surrounded by leather clad high stools and booths.
Upstairs a simple seafood bar to adds life to the restaurant and a calm mix of deep studded upholstery and elegant dark wood dining chairs provides the perfect environment for diners. The exquisite private dining room and bar evoke a bygone era and are frequently sought for complete privacy for special occasions.
Outside, the heated café terrace takes exterior seating to a new level of comfort with studded upholstery, padded carver style chairs and marble-topped tables. Not just great for dining but also the perfect area to enjoy the sumptuous cigar menu afterwards.
